Cane-woven basket with animal hair or vegetal straw covering, to be worn on back with
shoulder straps. Offers protection from the rain, and a storage compartment underneath. 28 x
18 inches. This is an unusual piece with great patina. The basket is finely and expertly woven.
I assumed that the hairy covering was probably the coarse hair from a water buffalo tail, but in
a description I read elsewhere, they described it as coarse straw. I still think it's animal, but
maybe not. It's very coarse and I assume water repellent. Great item.
