Old Indian Rajasthani Wedding Sash Embroidery
This is a fantastic old Rajasthani Embroidery that was used as a sash (boukhani) worn by a
groom at his wedding. 48 x 7 inches. These types of textiles are made in the Sind/Rajasthan
border area by brides and worn by the groom at the wedding. The design is traditional and fairly
rigid, embroidered in the soof stitch with mirror work.. This is an exemplary piece of embroidery
work from this region The  colors are great and the embroidery work is quite fine in this work
that dates from the mid 20th century. The sash is in excellent condition. It’s difficult now to find
these old sashes. As usual, I try to select interesting pieces that offer only exemplary examples
of Indian needlework. SOLD
